House Keys for my Kids ~ Yikes!

You should have see the incredulous looks on the faces of my 8 and 10 year old when I told them I was going to make house keys for them. You’d think it was Christmas! I had no idea they would think it was so cool so I decided to personalize it more by putting their photos on key chains to go with their newly found ability to unlock the door. Easy (simple really) to make at the CVS Photo Center.

My Robert Frost Key Hanger

This is such a cool gift idea from Walmart Photo Centre…a personalized key hanger with your photo as a background. I could have chosen a photo of my kids, puppy, whatever. Because we are remodeling our entry, I thought it would be cool to use one of my nature shots as a background. Check it out!
Publishing with My Publisher

Here goes my journey with My Publisher from Costco. I thought I’d try it out and see how it compares with some of the other photobook making software I’ve used. Unfortunately, the jury is still out given that I ran into all sorts of slowness and freezing on the loaner Dell Mini I’m using while my laptop is being fixed, but you get the general picture (hee, hee). Great features though not as intuitive as I had hoped, but I’m the WORST at reading directions and am totally impatient with slow connections or slow moving computers. I’ll definitely be trying again once I get MY computer back. I did the videos in 2 parts mainly because the mini froze and although I could have entertained you during the long 5 minutes it took me to get back on track, that’s not what you came for (or is it). Anyway, here’s part 1…
and here is part 2…
How I created a coffee table book of my nature photos.

It’s no secret that I LOVE being outdoors, hiking and photography. I always have my canon camera handy and nature shots that are inspiring, calming or empowering are my favorites. I love trees, rocks and water and take tons of photos. Luckily, I have an Eye-Fi wireless SD card so my life is SO much easier when it comes to uploading photos to flickr and facebook. See more about my Eye-Fi card here.
I decided awhile ago that I wanted to make a coffee table book of my favorite nature shots of 2009 so here is a video of my experience making the book at the Walmart Photo Centre…

Here is our puppy, Gus after opening his dog bowl gift from CVS photo center. He’s probably thinking that he’ll never grow into it. It’s much bigger than I thought! He’ll never run out of food this way
Here’s a quick video of my daughter helping him open it…

Serious Art Therapy with Plastic Recycled Bottlecap Art

in Reviews/giveaways
Not only do I put recycled bling in these cool new designs but I’m about to make a series with photos of my Dad’s 7 grandkids for him for his birthday tomorrow… Look for monthly ReCaptivation giveaways where you’ll be able to send a photo for me to put in my recycled bottlecap art.
Oh…and if you want to win a bottlecap pendant, a head hug (knitted hat) or a ZoomAlbum Kit, check out Meylah. They did a feature on me on Sunday in their Twelve Days of Christmas series…
Extra inspiration from Chris Jordan’s photography of the baby albatross skeletons on Midway Island. I’m working on helping to build awareness of our plastic consumption.

My puzzle arrived from Sam’s Club and I just had to show it to you. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first and was NOT expecting the quality of the puzzle to be this good! The pieces are strong and glossy and the tin is fantastic. Check it out here…
How much do you love your puppy?

Enough to make a puzzle of him or her? If you know me, you know that I can’t stop talking about our new puppy that we are getting in a WEEK! The kids have calendars in their rooms and we’ve been counting down the days until our sweet little cockapoo Gus arrives. I went to the Sam’s Club photo site and checked out all of the cool options they have for photo gifts. So many to choose from! I thought it would be fun to make a puzzle and tin of a baby picture that we were sent the other day from Donna at Echo Valley Ranch of our new addition to the family. HOW STINKING CUTE IS HE! Check out my video and meet Milo, our puppy’s half brother…
Seriously…the photo puzzle with the tin is only $13.96. I may have to make 2 so they don’t fight over it!
